A bare reading of the order referred to above reveals that the Writ Court, while issuing notice to the respondents directed respondent Nos. 1 and 2 to finalise the selection of the petitioner and take appropriate decision without delay. Learned counsel for the respondents submits, for, vide order dated April 24, 2018, the main case itself was allowed and the Board to make appropriate recommendations to the Government within a specified time, whereupon the respondent-department would issue an appointment order in favour of the petitioner. That being so, nothing substantive survives in the petition and the same is, accordingly, disposed of as having been rendered infructuous.
