ORDER (ORAL)
1. The petition at hands is being tried as Court on its own motion in public interest. And is pending since 2013. In essence, it concerns the drug menace in the region. The records show that numerous orders have been passed from time to time to achieve the purpose, for which the proceedings were initiated over a decade ago.

We have heard learned counsel for the parties and perused the record.

Ms. Monika Kohli, learned Sr.AAG has drawn our attention to the affidavit dated December 02, 2025, filed on behalf of the Department of Home in terms of the order dated November 11, 2025. She submits that concrete efforts are being made by the Jammu and Kashmir Police across all Districts of Sr. No. 13

the UT to curb the illegal manufacturing, trafficking, sale and consumption of both Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances. And the approach has been preventive, as also enforcement-oriented with a focus on inter-agency coordination, public awareness and rehabilitation to curb the drug menace. Further, would also protect the lives and fosters a healthier and more resilient society.

With reference to the multiple and comprehensive measures that are being taken, as delineated in the affidavit, learned counsel for the parties submit that, for the present, this petition can be disposed of in the wake of the stand set out by the Authorities, for, it has achieved its purpose. However, liberty be granted to seek its revival, just in case any fresh cause of action arises or on account of any inaction at the ends of the respondents.

However, at this stage, Ms. Deepika Mahajan, learned Senior counsel submits that in terms of the order dated November 11, 2025, she has suggested certain measures that would provide impetus to the endeavours that are being made by the respondent-Authorities to address every possible concern, conclusively.

Ms. Monika Kohli, learned Sr. AAG submits that suggestions made by the learned Senior counsel shall be taken cognizance of and shared with implementing agency.

Disposed of in the above terms with the liberty prayed for.
