The present petitions have been filed, inter alia, challenging the impugned Regulation No. 2.3.4. of the notification dated 1st August, 2008 issued by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. 3. These matters were adjourned sine die vide order dated 26th April, 2013. 4. The Registry has relisted them as no steps were taken by either of the parties. 5. Court notice was issued on 20th December, 2025 to both sides. 6. As noted in the order dated 12th October, 2012, the main issue is in respect of the ban on Gutkha/ Pan Masala. The notification in question was valid for a period of one year i.e., from 11th September, 2012 to 10th September, 2013, it has thereafter been replaced by various other notifications. 7. In addition, the questions of law which were raised in these petitions have now been comprehensively answered in the ld. Division Bench judgment of this Court in LPA 742/2022 titled Commissioner (Food Safety) v. Sugandhi Snuff King Pvt. Ltd & Ors. The said decision is stated to be under challenge before the Supreme Court. However, insofar as this Court is concerned, these writ petitions are more than 14 years old.
