For Appellant Mr. N.Nithianandam For Respondents Mr. R.Veeramani Government Pleader for R4 to R12. https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis WA No.1979 of 2026 JUDGMENT (Judgment of the Court was delivered by the Hon'ble Chief Justice) This writ appeal filed under Clause 15 of the Letters Patent, assails the order dated 09.10.2025 in WP No.11309 of 2019 whereby the respondents 1 to 3/writ petitioners challenged the Government order in GO No.694 dated 19.12.2005 and consequential proceedings dated 06.08.2013, which was disposed of by the writ court by directing the appellant herein to pay a sum of Rs.50,000/- as compensation to the respondents 1 to 3/writ petitioners, in view of cancellation of the rough patta issued in their favour. 2. Learned counsel for the appellant contended that the learned Single Judge could not have awarded Rs.50,000/- towards compensation, as compensation, double the market value of the subject-property, was already paid. 3. Admittedly, respondents 1 to 3/writ petitioners were granted patta for the subject property. There were several rounds of litigation, where the writ petitioners succeeded. Thereafter, the appellant had https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis WA No.1979 of 2026 filed a revision before the eighth respondent herein. The eighth respondent, without even ordering notice to the writ petitioners, recalled the earlier order and dismissed the appeal vide order dated 03.08.2013. Patta issued in favour of the writ petitioners was in fact cancelled without even issuing notice to the writ petitioners. Learned Single Judge, while dealing with the matter, to put a quietus to the issue, instead of remanding the matter to the eighth respondent, directed the appellant to pay compensation at the rate of Rs.50,000/- to the writ petitioners, since the land has already been utilized by the appellant. 4. In view of the aforesaid, we find no error in the order passed by the learned Single Judge. This appeal, being bereft of materials and substance, is hereby dismissed. There will be no order as to costs. Consequently, CMP No.17268 of 2026 is closed. (SUSHRUT ARVIND DHARMADHIKARI, CJ.) (G.
