Medhi, J) Heard Shri M. I. Hussain, learned counsel for the applicant/petitioner. Also heard Ms. A. Verma, learned Standing Counsel, Home Department; Shri P. Sarma, learned State Counsel, Assam; Shri G. Sarma, learned Standing Counsel, NRC and Ms. S. Katakey, learned Standing Counsel, ECI. By the instant application, the applicant has sought to correct the addresses of the respondent nos. 5 & 6. It is contended that while in the aforesaid addresses, Superintendent of Police (Border), Bajali was written, after passing of the interim order, the Page No.# 4/4 applicant came to know that the records are with the Superintendent of Police (Border), Barpeta. Ms. Verma, the learned Standing Counsel though has not seriously objected to the prayers made has submitted that the applicant had lacked due diligence as proper party was not arrayed. Be that as it may and in the interest of justice, we are of the opinion that the correction sought is required to the allowed. The petition accordingly stands allowed and the petitioner is required to submit corrected memo of parties in the writ petition. We also clarify that in the order dated 01.06.2026, the expressions “Superintendent of Police (B), Bajali” should be read as “Superintendent of Police (B) Barpeta”. At this stage, the learned counsel has submitted that the applicant/petitioner had appeared within the specified time before the Superintendent of Police (B), Bajali where he was directed to appear before the Superintendent of Police (B), Barpeta. Accordingly, we extend the date for appearance before the Superintendent of Police (B) Barpeta to another week which is to expire on 17.06.2026.
