For Petitioners : Mr.C.Rajaguru For Respondents : Mr.R.Ganesh Kumar Counsel for Government of Tamil Nadu (Criminal Side) ORDER This Writ Petition (Criminal) has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents 1 and 2 to record the statements of the petitioners under Section 161 of Cr.P.C or under Section 180 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 in Crime No.1 of 2024 registered by the first respondent based on the complaint dated 06.03.2026. 2. Heard the learned counsel appearing on either side and perused the materials available on record. 3. On instruction, the learned Counsel for Government of Tamil Nadu (Criminal Side) appearing for the respondents submitted that, based on the complaint lodged by other victims, the Inspector of Police, Cheyyar Police Station, Tiruvannamalai District, registered an FIR in Crime No.613 of 2023. Since all the allegations are attracted the offence under the provisions of TNPID Act, the entire case diary was transferred to the second respondent. After receipt of the entire case diary, the second respondent re-registered the FIR in https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis WP Crl. No. 1950 of 2026 __________ Page3 of 4 Crime No.1 of 2024 and the investigation is pending. Therefore, the petitioners, being the victims, can be shown as witnesses in Crime No.1 of 2024 and there is no need to register a separate FIR in respect of their grievance. 4. In view of the above, the second respondent is directed to record the statements of the petitioners and treated them as victims in Crime No.1 of 2024 and proceed further in accordance with law. 5.
