JUSTICE AMIT BANSAL O R D E R % 11.08.2026 1. The present writ petitions concern the elections of the Executive Committee of the respondent no.1/Volleyball Federation of India (‘VFI’). 2. Vide order dated 9th May, 2025, this Court directed the conduct of elections for a newly elected body of the respondent no.1/VFI, which was to operate as an interim body. The relevant directions passed by the Court in this regard are set out below: “19. Accordingly, with the consent of the parties, it is directed as follows:- (i) The elections for the constitution of a newly elected body of the Volleyball Federation of India, shall be completed within a period of four weeks, from today. (ii) The elections shall be conducted from the stage, from where the election process was stopped, in view of the order dated 16th February, This is a digitally signed order. (iii) The newly elected body shall operate as an interim body…” 3. On 7th June, 2025, elections were conducted by the Election Officer/Returning Officer appointed by the IOA. The resultant interim body elected was granted conditional recognition by the FIVB. 4. FIVB vide its letter dated 21st April, 2026, appointed a Steering Committee to manage the administrative affairs of the respondent no.1/VFI. Thereafter on 22nd April, 2026, the recognition granted to the interim body of the respondent no.1/VFI has been revoked by the Union of India (‘UoI’) as well as the Indian Olympic Association (‘IOA’). 5. Counsel for the parties are ad idem that with the coming into effect of the National Sports Governance Act, 2025, fresh elections for the Executive Committee of the respondent no.1/VFI are required to be conducted. 6. Accordingly, a direction is passed that the Steering Committee shall ensure that the resultant body of the respondent no.1/VFI shall forthwith take steps to make amendments in the Constitution of VFI to make it in conformity with the National Sports Governance Act, 2025 as well as the regulations of the FIVB. The Steering Committee shall proceed to hold elections for the Executive Committee of the respondent no.1//VFI in an expeditious manner. 7. W.P.(C) 1938/2024, W.P.(C) 2100/2024, W.P. (C) 3365/2024, W.P.(C) 9483/2025 and W.P.(C) 17269/2025 were filed challenging the Electoral College for the election of the Executive Committee of the respondent no. 1/ VFI. 7.1. W.P. (C) 2103/2024 was filed seeking a declaration that Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Arunanchal Pradesh, Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Sikkim are not eligible to be included in the Electoral College for the Election of Executive Committee for the respondent no.1/VFI. 8.1. Accordingly, it is directed that the Election Officer/ Returning Officer shall de novo consider the aspect of eligibility of the aforesaid states. 9. W.P. (C) No. 9483 of 2025 was filed seeking quashing of the election results dated 7th June, 2025, in terms of which the interim body of the respondent no.1/VFI was appointed. 9.1. In view of the revocation of the recognition granted to the interim body of the respondent no.1/VFI by the IOA as well as the FIVB, the relief sought in W.P. (C) No. 9483 of 2025 has become infructuous. 10. The writ petitions are disposed of in the aforesaid terms. 11. Pending applications stand disposed of.
