In this Act,— Definitions. (a) "Matriculation Examination" means the examination commonly known as the Matriculation Examina-. tion of the University of Calcutta; and (b) "University of Calcutta" means— (i) prior to the appointed day referred to in clause (b) of section 2 of the Calcutta University Act, 1951, the University of Calcutta as constituted under the Calcutta University Act, 1857 and the Indian Universities Act, 1904, (ii) and thereafter, the University of Calcutta as constituted under the Calcutta University Act,
