(1) Subject to the provisions of this Act, an appointed or nominated member of the Council shall hold office for a term of three years from the date on which his name is published under section 6: Provided that the State Government shall, if it considers necessary to do so in the public interest on sufficient grounds, remove an appointed or nominated member of the Council. 8 THE KOLKATA GAZETTE, EXTRAORDINARY, FEBRUARY 14, 2014 [PART III The West Bengal State Council of Technical and Vocational Education and Skill Development Act, 2013. (Chapter IL—Council.—Sections 8, 9.) Casual vacancy. (2) Notwithstanding the expiry of the term specified in sub-section (1), an appointed or nominated member of the Council shall continue to hold office until the vacancy caused by the expiry of the said term has been filled up in accordance with the provisions of this Act. (3) An appointed or nominated member may resign from his office by submitting his resignation to the Chairperson of the Council.
