(1) Subject to the provisions of this Act, a nominated or appointed member of the Council shall hold office for a term of five years from the date on which his name is published under section 5 and may, on the expiry of such term, be re-nominated or re-appointed. (2) Notwithstanding the expiry of the term of five years specified in sub-section (1), a nominated or appointed member of the Council shall continue to hold office until the vacancy caused by the expiry of the said term has been filled up in accordance with the povisions of this Act.
