(1) There shall be established and incorporated a State-aided University by the name of Purba Medinipur University in the district of Purba Medinipur, West Bengal. (2) The first Vice-Chancellor of the University and the first members of the University Council, and all persons who may hereafter become the Vice-Chancellor of the University or the members of the University Council, the Court or the Executive Council, so long as they continue to hold such office or membership, shall constitute a body corporate by the name of the Purba Medinipur University. (3) The University shall have perpetual succession and a common seal and shall have powers to sue and be sued by the name of the Purba Medinipur University.
