The District Magistrate or any Magistrate of the first class specially empowered in this behalf by the Provin- cial Government may try summarily, under the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898, any forest-offence punishable with imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months, or with fine not exceeding five hundred rupees, or with both.
