(1) Any person ho, or () (a) fells, girdles, lops, taps, or burns. any tree in a controlled or vested forest or strips off the- bark or leaves from or otherwise damages, any such tree, quarries any stone, or burns any lime or charcoal, or collects, subjects to any manufacturing process, or removes any forest#produce from- a controlled or vested forest, · (c) breaks up or clears for cultivation or' any other pur- pose any land in a controlled or vested forest, (d) sets fire to a controlled or vested forest, or kindles a fire without taking all reasonable precautions to prevent its spreading to any portion of such forest, Penalties for,breach of rules. (e) permits cattle to damage any tree in a controlled or vested forest, shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which mar extend to six months, or with fine which may extend to»fve hundred rupees, or with both. · (2) Any person contravening any rule made under this Act, for the contravention of which no special penalty is pro- vided, shall be punishable with imprisonment fora term which may extend to one month, or with. fne which my extend to five hundred rupees, or with both.
