(1) (a) In the event of the occurrence of any vacancy in the President's office of the President by reason of his death, resignation or removal, or functions in certain otherwise, or contin- gencies. (b) when the President is unable to discharge his functions, owing to absence, illness or any other cause, the Vice-President shall exercise the powers, perform the functions and discharge the duties of the President until a new President is elected and assumes office or until the President resumes his duties, as the case may be. (2) In the event of the occurrence of vacancies in the offices of both the President and the Vice-President the State Government may appoint a member of the Board to exercise the powers, perform the functions and discharge the duties of the President until a President or a Vice-President is elected and assumes office.
