(1) If a casual vacancy arises by reason of any member appointed under clause (vi), clause (viii) or clause (di) of sub-section (1) of section 8 having,— (a) refused to serve as a member, or (b) died, or (a) resigned his office as a member, or (d) ceased to be a member under the proviso to sub- section (4) of section 8, or (e) been removed from his office as a member under sub-section (2) of section 11, the Chancellor shall appoint a person with the requisite qualifications to fill the vacancy. (2) A person appointed under sub-section (1) to fill a casual vacancy shall, subject to the provisions of the proviso to sub-section (4) of section 8, hold office as a member for a period of two years from the date of his appointment as a member. (3) If a casual vacancy arises in the seat of any member elected under clause (ix) or clause (x) of sub-section (1) of section 8 for any of the reasons referred to in clauses (a), (b), (c), (d) or (e) of sub-section (1), such vacancy shall be filled by a person having the requisite qualifications to be elected by the body and in the manner referred to in clause (ix) or clause (x) as the case may be. veaumpies.
