(1) The Chairman-in-Council may by public notice prohibit the Provision nst washing of clothes by washermen in pursuance of their calling, within the ag was ai hing by municipal area except at— washermen at (a) public wash-houses or places maintained or provided for unauthorised the purpose, or places. (b) such other places as the Chairman-in-Council may appoint for the purpose, if sufficient number of public wash-houses are not maintained or provided. (2) When any such prohibition has been made, no person who is by calling a washerman shall, in contravention of such prohibition, wash clothes, except for himself or for personal and family service or for hire on and within the premises of the hirer, at any place within the limits of the municipal area other than a public wash-house or place maintained or appointed under this Act.
