- S. 1(1) This Act may be called the West Bengal Maintenance of Short title Public Order Act, 1972
- S. 2In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,— Definitions
- S. 3Section 3 overrides any conflicting provisions in other laws or instruments.
- S. 4Section 4 exempts actions by public servants in the course of duty from prohibitions, restrictions, or disabilities under the Act.
- S. 5Section 5 penalizes failure to comply with provisions or orders of the Act without lawful authority or excuse.
- S. 6Section 6 declares certain places as protected, restricts entry without permission, and allows searches by authorized officials.
- S. 7Section 7 penalizes entry into protected places using force or concealment with up to five years imprisonment and/or fine.
- S. 8Section 8 prohibits acts intended to damage government or public property and essential services.
- S. 9Section penalizes subversive acts with up to ten years imprisonment, fine, or both.
- S. 10Any person who carries on his person or knowingly has in his Punishment 6 of 1908
- S. 11Section 11 defines looting as committing theft or robbery during or after a riot when law and order have not been restored.
