(1) The State Government shall, for the purposes of this Act, by notification appoint assessing authority or authorities consisting of such officer or officers as the State Government may think fit. (2) The State Government shall specify the area or areas over which an assessing authority shall exercise jurisdiction. (3) An assessing authority shall assess the revenue payable by a raiyat, in respect of his land holding in accordance with the provisions of this Act and the rules made thereunder.
