(1) The State Government shall, by notification in the Official Gazette, constitute for the State of West Bengal a Board to be called the West Bengal Labour Welfare Board which shall consist of notmore than twenty members appointed by the State Government from amongst employers, employees and independent persons including women. (2) The members of the Board shall elect one amongst them as the Chairman of the Board. (3) Save as otherwise expressly provided by this Act, the term of office of the members of the Board shall be three years commencing on the date on which their names are notified in the Official Gazette. (4) The allowances, if any, payable to the members of the Board shall be such as may be prescribed. (5) The Board shall be a body corporate having perpetual succession and a common seal, withpower to acquire, hold and dispose of property, both movable and immovable, and shall by the said name sue and be sued. 186 The West Bengal Labour Welfare Fund Act, 1974.
