(1) If it appears to the Commissioner at any time that any building is in a ruinous condition or is in any way dangerous, the Commissioner may by an order require the owner or the occupier of such building to demolish, secure or repair such building. 344 The Howrah Municipal Corporation Act, 1980. LVIII of 1980.] (Part V.—Civic Services.—Chapter Sections 181, 182.) (2) If it appears to the Commissioner that the danger from such building is imminent, he may, before making the order as aforesaid, take such steps as may be necessary to prevent the danger. (3) If the owner or the occupier of the building does not comply with the order under this section, the Commissioner shall take such step in relation to the building as may be necessary to prevent any cause of danger therefrom. (4) All expenses incurred by the Commissioner, in relation to any building, under this section shall be recoverable from the owner or the occupier thereof, as the case may be, as an arrear of tax under this Act.
