(1) All public streets, squares, parks and gardens (not being the property of, and kept under the control of, Government or the Board of Trustees for the Improvement of Howrah) including the soil, sub-soil and the side-drains, footways, pavements, trees, stones and other materials, implements and other things provided for such streets and other public places, which are situated in Howrah, shall vest in the Corporation. 2) Whenever the Corporation proposes to determine the name by which any public street or public place is to be known or to change the name of any public street or public place, it shall refer the proposal to an Advisory Committee constituted under sub-section (3) for its consideration. (3) The State Government shall, by notification, constitute an Advisory Committee for naming, or changing the name of, any public street or square in Howrah.
