(1) The Corporation shall consist of the following ton members, namely : — of' the Corpora- (a) fifty-six Councillors of whom— (i) fifty-five shall be elected in accordance with the provisions of sub-section (2) of section 5, and (ii) one shall be the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Improvement of Howrah (ex-officio); and (b) five Aldermen to be elected by the Councillors as provided in section 9 of the Calcutta Act. (2) As soon as may be after the completion of the first general election of the Councillors and the election of the Aldermen, the State Government shall, by notification in the Official Gazette, declare that the Corporation has been constituted, and the Corporation shall thereupon be deemed to be duly constituted on and from the date of such notification. invivan
