(1) There shall be the following Faculty Councils for Post-Graduate Studies:— (a) the Faculty Council for post-graduate studies in Humanities, Social Sciences and Commerce, (b) the Faculty Council for post-graduate studies in Science, (c) the Faculty Council for Post-graduate Studies in Law, Education, Journalism, Library Science and Physical Education, (d) the Faculty Council for post-graduate studies in Technology and Medicinal studies. (2) Each Faculty Council for post-graduate studies in Humanities and Social Sciences shall consist of the following members : (i) the Vice-Chancellor-Chairman ; (ii) the Head or Heads of the Department or Departments concerned, if any; (iii) the Professor or Professors of the Department or Departments concerned, if any ; (iv) five Teachers participating in post-graduate teaching in the subject or subjects concerned of whom— (A) one shall be from constituent colleges. or professional colleges, nominated by the Vice-Chancellor, and (B) four shall be Teachers of the University, other than Professors, from the Departments under the Faculty Council for post-graduate studies coricerned elected jointly by such Teachers from amongst themselves of whom not more than one shall belong to one department; (v) one person having special knowledge in the subject or subjects concerned nominated by the Vice-Chancellor; (vi) three Teachers participating in undergraduate teaching elected by the Teacher members of the Council for undergraduate studies in the subject or subjects concerned from amongst themselves. (3) The Faculty Council for post-graduate studies in Medicine shall consist of the following members :— (i) the Vice-Chancellor—Chairman; (ii) the Dean of the Faculty Council for post-graduate studies in Medicine, who shall be a Professor; the Head of the Department or Departments concerned; PART III] THE KOLKATA GAZETTE, EXTRAORDINARY, FEBRUARY 19, 2008 17 Powers and duties of the Faculty Council for Post-Graduate Studies. (iv) the Professor or Professors of the Department or Departments concerned ; (v) four Teachers, othef than Professors, from the Departments under the Faculty Council for post-graduate studies in Medicine, of whom not more than one shall belong to one Department, elected jointly by such Teachers from. amongst themselves; (vi) one Teacher from constituent colleges or professional colleges nominated by the Vice-Chancellor; (vii) one person having special knowledge in the subject or subjects concerned, nominated by the Vice-Chancellor; (viii) three Teachers participating in undergraduate teaching, elected by the Teacher-members of the Council for undergraduate studies in Medicine in the subject or subjects concerned from amongst themselves; (4) Each Faculty Council for Post-graduate Studies shall have a Secretary to be appointed by the Executive Council. (5) One-third of the total number of members of a Faculty Council for post- graduate studies plus one shall be a quorum for a meeting of the Faculty Council.
