(1) All apex societies, district co-operative unions, co-operative societies having their areas of operation extending over more than one district, and other class or classes of co-operative societies, as may be prescribed, shall be required to be affiliated to the State Co-operative Union within such time, in such manner and on payment of such fees, as may be prescribed. (2) All co-operative societies, other than those specified in sub- section (1), shall be required to be affiliated to the respective district co- operative union within such time, in such manner and on payment of such fees, as may be prescribed. (3) The affiliation referred to in sub-section (1) and sub-section (2) shall initially be for a period of two years and is renewable for such period, in such manerand on payment of such fees, as may be prescribed.
