(1) It shall be competent to a co-operative land development bank, central co-operative land development bank, cent•al co-operative bank or the apex housing society to purchase the mortgaged property sold under this Chapter but the property so purchased shall be disposed of by such bank or the society, as the case may be, by sale within the 'period prescribed or, where a Trustee has been appointed, within such period as he may specify in accordance with the rules. (2) Nothing contained in section 14M or section 14Q of the West Bengal Land Reforms Act, 1955, shall apply to lands acquired by a co-operative land development bank, central co-operative land development bank, central co-operative bank or the apex housing society as a raiyat by virtue of purchase or purchases referred to in sub-section (1).
