After sub-section (1) of section 5 of the West Bengal Clinical Establishments (Registration, Regulation and Transparency) Act, 2017, the following sub-section shall be inserted:— "(la) The Chief Medical Officer of Health of a health district, as may be notified by the State Government, shall be the Registering Authority as well as the licensing authority within his jurisdiction in respect of clinical establishments situated in the respective health district.".
