- S. 1(1) This Act may be called the Calcutta (Temporary Supersession) Act, 1978
- S. 2(1) In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,— Definitions
- S. 3The Calcutta University (Temporary Supersession) Act, 1978 temporarily suspends the University of Calcutta for one year, extendable by the State Government up to two years.
- S. 4With effect from the date of coming into force of this Act,— of supersession
- S. 5Section 5 fills the Vice-Chancellor's vacancy by the Chancellor in consultation with the Minister and UGC Chairman.
- S. 6Section 6 allows the Chancellor to fill council vacancies during supersession, consulting the Vice-Chancellor and Minister.
- S. 7Section 7 allows the Calcutta University Council to refer difficulties to the State Government for resolution.
- S. 8Section 8 prevents the Act from implying the dissolution of Calcutta University as a corporate body.
- S. 9(1) The Calcutta University Ordinance, 1978, is hereby repealed
- S. 1978—
