(1) This Actmay be called the Calcutta Thika Tenancy (Acquisition and Regulation) Act, 1981. (2) It extends to Calcutta as defined in clause (1 1 ) of section 5 of the Calcutta Municipal Act, 1951 and the municipality of Howrah. (3) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification, appoint.
