Section 187

(1) If the Corporation considers it expedient to prescribe a regular line for streets or buildings on one or both sides of any public street or portion thereof, it shall give a public notice of its intention to do so. (2) Every such notice shall specify the period within which objections will be received by the Corporation and a copy of the notice shall be sent by post to every owner of the premises abutting on such public street who is registered in respect of such premises in the books of the Corporation. (3) The Corporation shall consider all objections received by it within the specified period and make an order specifying a building-line or a street-alignment or both for such public street. Every such order shall be published in the Official Gazette and shall take effect from the date of such publication. (4) A register or book with plans attached shall be kept by the Corporation showing all public streets in respect of which a building- line or a street-alignment has been specified and such register shall contain such particulars as may appear to the Chief Executive Officer to be necessary and shall be open to inspection by the public on payment of prescribed fee. (5) Whenever it is proposed to repair, re-build, remove, construct or re-construct any building or portion thereof abutting on a public street in respect of which a building-line or street-alignment has been specified by an order, the Chief Executive Officer may give direction for setting back or setting forward all such buildings or portions thereof in such manner as may be determined by regulation.
