37. (a) Nothing contained in this Act shall affect suits pending at the commencement of this Act, or shall be deemed to vest in, or confer upon, any person any right or title to any estate, or any portion thereof, or any interest therein, which is at the commencement of this Act vested in any other person who would have been entitled to retain the same if this Act had not been passed and the right or title of such other person shall not be affected by anything contained in this Act. (b) Nothing in Part II shall be deemed to deprive the holder for the time being of a settled estate of his right to adopt, or to empower his widow to adopt, a son, or to affect the right of any person to maintenance under Part I or to affect the provisions of the Agra Tenancy Act, 1901, 1 [or of the Oudh Rent Act, 1886], as amended by subsequent Acts [or the right of the 2 [State Government] or any public authority to recover by legal process any sum due on account of land revenue or recoverable as such or recoverable under the provisions of the Revenue Recovery Act, 1890.
