25. (1) Subject to the provisions of section 29, it shall be lawful for any person for the time being entitled to and in possession of a settled estate and being a male and competent to contract, to apply to the 1 [State Government] for permission to revoke wholly or in part any declaration that property shall held subject to the provisions of this part. (2) The 1 [State Government] after considering the application and the result of any inquiry made by it or under its orders and any further particulars or information called for by it, may 2 [* * *] either grant or refuse permission, or grant permission in respect of a portion only the property to which the application relates.
