23. Nothing in this Act shall be deemed to deprive the holder for the time being of a settled estate of his right to adopt or to empower his widow to adopt a son, or to affect the right of any person to maintenance under Part VIII of the Oudh Estates Act, 1869, or to affect the provisions of the 1 [Oudh Rent Act, 1886] or the right of the 2 [State Government] or any public revenue or recoverable as such or recoverable under the provisions of the Revenue Recovery Act, 1890.
