Adoption and relinquishiment by Municipality of housescavenging, etc

196. Subject to the provisions hereinafter contained with respect to the rights of customary sweepers and of agriculturists, the Municipality may - (a) by public notice undertake the house-scavenging of any houses or buildings or the 1 [ collection, removal and disposal or excrementitious and polluted matter from privies, urinals and cesspools ] in the municipality from a date not less than two months after issue of the notice ; (b) after giving by public notice or otherwise not less than two month’s notice to the parties concerned, relinquish an undertaking under clause (a) ; (c) on the application or with the consent of the occupier, at any time undertake the house-scavenging of a house or building or the 2 [ collection, removal and disposal of excrementitious and polluted matter from privies, urinals and cesspools ] in any building or on any land or the removal of other offensive matter or rubbish from a building or land, on terms to be fixed by bye-law in this behalf ; and (d) after giving not less than two months’ notice to the occupier, relinquish an undertaking under clause (c).
