(1) If at any time upon representation made it appears to the State Government that the 1 [Corporation] is not competent to perform or persistently makes default in the performance of the duties imposed upon it by or under this Act or any other law for the time being in force or exceeds or abuses more than once its powers, the State Government may, after having given the 1 [Corporation] an opportunity to show cause why such order should not be made, by an order published with the reasons therefor in the official Gazette dissolve the 1 [Corporation]. (2) A copy of the order under sub-section (1) shall be laid, as soon as may be, before each Houses of the Uttar Pradesh Legislature. 2 [ (3) When a Corporation is dissolved under sub-section (1), the following consequences shall ensue- (a) the 3 [Mayor] the 4 [***] and all 1 [Corporators] shall, on a date to be specified in the order, vacate their respective offices but without prejudice to the eligibility for re-election.
