8. Save as otherwise provided in this Act, the relevant code of practice with respect to building in which the lift or escalator is to be installed, the lift and escalator itself, any other electrical or mechanical apparatus and installations and any other code of relevance, shall be adhered to. The lifts and escalators in public premises shall be disabled - friendly.
