Appointment of Director General and Director of Fire and Emergency Service

6. (1) The State Government shall appoint an officer of the rank of Director General of Police/Additional Director General of Police as Director General Fire and Emergency Service hereinafter referred as Director General Fire and Emergency Services who shall exercise such powers and perform such duties and other functions as are specified under this Act and whose jurisdiction shall extend to the whole of the State of Uttar Pradesh. (2) The State Government shall appoint a Fire Officer of domain Qualification knowledge experience and credible accomplishments in the field of fire service to be the Director, Fire and Emergency Services who shall exercise such powers and perform such duties and other functions as are specified by or under this Act. (3) The State Government shall appoint such other officers and staff, as may be necessary from time to time, to assist the Director General, Fire and Emergency Services and Director, Fire and Emergency Services while exercising the powers or discharging the duties or functions conferred under this Act or rules made thereunder. (4) Subject to the control, directions and superintendence of the State Government, the Director General and the Director shall exercise such powers and perform such duties as are conferred and imposed upon him by this Act or the rules made thereunder.
