Amendment of Section 19.-In sub-section (1) of Section 19 of the Principal Act,- (1) After the punctuation mark semi-colon ";" appearing at the end of sub-clause (ix) of clause (a), the word "and" shall be substituted; (2) After sub-clause (ix) of clause (a), the following sub-clause !baIl be substituted, namely:- "(x) the Director of Higher Education, Government of Tripura"; be renumbered as sub-clauses "(i) to (xii)" respectively; ~ renumbered as "(i) to (xii)" respectively; (4) In clause (b).- (a) for sub-clause (i) as so renumbered, the following sub-clause Jibal! be substituted, namely:- "(i) Not more than three Professors of the University; other than Heads of Departments, belonging to the Depart- ments under Faculty Councils for Post-Graduate Studies, elected by the Teachers of the University." . (0\ for sub-clause (ii) as so renumbered, the following s~b.dause •••• be substituted, namely:- "(ii) ~ot more than three Readers and three Lecturers of the University, other than Heads of Departments, elec- ted by the Teachers of the University." --_ .. __ ._-. /, (c) for sub-clause (Hi) as so renumbered, the following sub-clause shall be substituted, namely i=- "(Hi) Fifteen Teachers, other than Principals, of whom at least two shall be women, two shall be from amongst the Teachers belonging to the Scheduled Tribes and two shall be from amongst the Teachers belonging to the Scheduled Castes community respectively, elected by the Teachers of affiliated Colleges from amongst themselves, provided that the number of such representatives of the College Teachers will be proportionately reduced by the Chancellor on the advice of the State Government in case the College gets the autonomous status." (d) for sub-clause (viii) as so renumbered, the following sub-clause shall be substituted, namely:- "(viii) Six regular under graduate students of the Affiliated Colleges one of whom shall be a lady student, one shall be from amongst the students belonging to Scheduled Tribes and one shall be from amongst the students belonging to Scheduled Castes, elected by an electoral College of such students constituted in the manner prescribed. " (e) after sub-clause (xii) as so renumbered the following sub-clause shall be inserted, namely:- "(xiii) five Registered Graduates of the University living within the territorial jurisdiction of the University to be elected by such Registered Graduates from amongst themselves. Provided that till the Tripura University Registered Graduates Constituency is formed, the Registered Graduates of the Calcutta Univer- sity living within the territorial jurisdiction of the Tripura University shall form the Registered Graduates' Constituency. Explanatlon :-Since all the Degree Colleges in Tripura have so far been and will remain affiliated to the Calcutta University till the appointed day, the Registered Graduates' Constituency shall consist, initially, of the Graduates of the Calcutta University, that is, until the Tripura University Registered Graduates' Constituency is formed." (5) After clause (b), tile following shall be inserted as heading of a clause, namely:- "(c) Nominated members:" (6) The sub-clauses "(xxii) and (xxiii)" appearing under clause (c) as-.o inserted shall be renumbered as sub-clauses "(i) and (ii)" respectively; (7) Sub-clause "(xxiv)" ~hall be deleted. ... 1 ! i , I -j 4 ~
