(2) It extends to the whole of rhe Union Terrirory of Tripura. 2, (1) With effect from such date as the '[State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint in this behalf, 2[the Bengali language and the Kak-Barak language] shall, subject to the provisions of section 34 of the Government of Union Territories Act, 1963, be the language to be used for all or any of the official purposes of the J[State of Tripura, and different dates may be appointed for different official purposes or for different areas in the "[State of Tripura ; Provided that the issue of any such notification shall be without prejudice to the use of any language other than the Bengali language which is authorised by or under any law for the time being in force to be used for any purpose in any of the civil or criminal courts within the 5[State of Tripura. (2) Notwithstanding the issue of any notification under sub- section (1), (a) the English language may continue to be used, in addition to the Bengali language, for those official purposes within the 6[State of Tripura for which it was being used I.
