In case the competent authority proposes to select excess land out of the land transferred, it shall do so after giving to the notice to the transferee or transferees concerned and after giving them an opportunity of being heard. It may also all for such additional information as may be necessary for determination of the proportion in which the excess land is to be selected out of the land transferred and the transferee or transferees concerned shall be bound to furnish the information called for.
