The value of the produce of the land for the purpose of determination of rent shall be estimated in the following manner, that is to say:-- (a) The total yield of the land shall be estimated on the basis of the actual yield agreed upon between the raiyat AND the under raiyat, and failing that, on the basis of the quantity of the average yield per acre of the crop grown on that class of soil as determined during the last survey and settlement operations for that assessment nit or on the bases of actual crop cutting experiments undertaken by the Revenue or Agriculture Department of the State Government or both in that year in or near that area, where both the basis be applicable the one according to which the yield is less shall be adopted. (b) The value of the produce shall be determined on the average of the market prices during the preceding year. 1[142A.
