(1) A local authority in respect of a Municipal area within its jurisdiction or any other authority, agency or body of the State Government or a Government company may make an application for the development, construction, management, operation and maintenance of a tramway system in a municipal area. (2) A local authority or any other authority agency or body of the State Government or a Government company, as the case may be, shall not make an application for an order, unless the making of such application has been approved in the manner prescribed. [Act No.38 of 2008] 7 (3) Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-section (1) or sub-section (2), the State Government may on its own motion or on an application or otherwise by an order in writing, require a local authority or any other authority, a Government company or an agency or body of the State Government to make an application for development, construction, management operation and maintenance of a tramway system in a municipal area.
