(1) An inquiry under section 15 or section 17 and may be held by the Council or by Committee which may be appointed by the Council as provided in sub-section (1) of section 12. The Council or the committee, as the case may be, may at its discretion hold such inquiry in camera. Where the inquiry is held by the Committee, it shall make a report to the Council which shall pass such orders as it deems fit. (2) In holding inquiries under this Act the Council or its Committee shall have the same powers as are vested in the civil courts under the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908, when trying a suit; in respect of the following matters, namely:— (a) enforcing the attendance of any person and examining him on oath; Failure to surrender certificate of registration. Jurisdiction of magistrate. Appeal from the decision of the Council. Procedure in inquiries and appeals. 22 [Act No.23 of 1968] (b) compelling the production of documents; (c) issuing of commissions for the examination of witnesses.
