A pattadar may, before expiry of the date fixed by the 95[Government] by notification in this behalf, by presenting a compromise relinquish the land occupied by him or get it transferred in the name of any other person, but he shall remain responsible for the Government demands due by him. A compromise not applying to a whole number or a whole pote-number shall not be acceptable.
