(1) The Mayor may resign his office by giving notice in writing to the Corporation; the Deputy Mayor may resign his office by giving notice in writing to the Mayor. Such resignation shall take effect in the case of Mayor from the date on which it is accepted by the Corporation and in the case of the Deputy Mayor, by the Mayor. (2) Any #[member] may resign his office at any time by notice in writing to the Mayor and such resignation shall take effect from the date on which it is accepted by the Mayor. Committees. 154[93. 155[(1) (a) There shall be constituted for the Corporation a Standing Committee consisting of not less than five and not more than fifteen members chosen by the Corporation from among themselves as prescribed to exercise the powers and perform the functions entrusted to it under this Act. (b) The members of the Standing Committee shall hold office for a period of one year from the date of choosing by the Corporation:
