Nothing in this Act shall be deemed to bar the prosecution of any person under any other law for any act or ommission which constitutes a forest offence, or from being liable under such other law to any higher punishment or penalty than that provided by this Act, or the rules made thereunder: Provided that no person shall be prosecuted and punished for the same offence more than once. 24[58-A. An order of confiscation under sub-section (2-A) or sub-section (2-D) of section 44 shall not be deemed to bar the imposition of any other penalty to which the person from whom the property is seized is liable under this Act.]
