(1) The Government may make rules to regulate the following matters, namely:- (a) the salving, collection and disposal of all timber referred to in this chapter; (b) the use and registration of boats used in salving and collecting timber; Disposal of unclaimed timber. Government and their officers not liable for damage to timber collected under section 37. Payment to be made by claimant before timber is delivered to him. Power to make rules and prescribe penalty for contravention thereof. [Act No. 1 of 1967] 31 (c) the costs to be paid for salving, collecting, moving, storing or disposing of such timber; (d) the use and registration of hammers and other implements used for marking such timber. (2) Whoever contravenes any rule made under this section shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months, or with fine which may extend to five hundred rupees, or with both.
