(1 ,) The Council shall have the power to levy the following taxes Ta XC. to (a) Property tax i (b) Water tax ; (c) Sewerage tax ; (d) Education tax : (el Advertisement t ~ h ; and (f) a duty on t r ~ ncfer of pr.,perty. (2) The levy, assessment and collection of taxes menti0n.d in sub-section (I) shall be in accordance with the provisions of this Act and the r ~ l e s made thereunder : I Probided tha.t the provisions of this section shall not apply in resp ct of clauses (b) and (c) of sub-~ection (1) to any mi nicipality to whlcb tbe Chennai hletropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Act 1978 applies.
