Establishment 'of the University. -- (1) For furthering the advancement of learning and prosecution of research in Tamil there shall be established a University by the name "The Tamil University" (2) The University shall be a body corporate, shall have perpetual succession and a common seal and shall. sue and be sued by the said name. (3 ) The University shall be of the unitary type. (4) The University may establish or recognise institutions or centres in Tamil Nadu or in other States or in other Countries for the purpose of furthering the objects of the University, with the prior approval of the Government concerned and the University concerned. (5) The headquarters of the University shall be located within the limits of the Thanjavur Municipality or in any place within a radius of twenty-five kilometers around those limits.
