Admission University Courses (1) The University shall, subject to the provisions of this Act and the statutes, be open to all persons. (2) Nothing contained in sub-section (1) shall require the University – (a) to admit to any course of study any person who does not possess the prescribed academic qualification or standard; (b) to retain on the rolls of the University any student whose academic record is below the minimum standard required for the award of a degree, diploma or other academic distinction; or (c) to admit any person or retain any student whose conduct is prejudicial to the interests of the University or the rights and privileges of the other students and teachers (3) Every candidate for a University examination shall, unless exempted from the provisions of sub-section (2) by a special order of the Syndicate made on the recommendation of the Academic Council be enrolled as a member of an affiliated college. Any such exemption may be made subject to such conditions as the Syndicate may think fit. (4) Students exempted from the provisions of sub-section (2) and students admitted in accordance with the conditions prescribed, to courses of study other than courses of study for a degree, shall be non-collegiate students of the University. 33
