Jurisdiction of criminal courts :- No court inferior to that of a presidency magistrate or a magistrate of the first class shall try any offence under this Act. 31.Certain offences to be cognizable:- Notwithstanding anything contained in the code of Criminal Procedure, 1898 (Central Act V of 1898, an offence under clause i or clause iii of sub-section 1 of Section 29, shall be deemed to be a cognizable offence within the meaning of that Code.
